Obituary for Tamara LaMer Cross (Craig)

Old Testament Scripture: “If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.” (‭Job‬ ‭14:14‬ ‭KJV)‬‬

Tamara LaMer Craig-Cross was born in Grand Rapids, MI on March 25, 1965 as the first child of Linda Cross and Robert F Craig. She was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Ottawa High School. She went on to earn an associate degree in Sociology.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and served in many capacities under Bishop Abney and later under Pastor Sapp. She was faithful to the service of the Lord and later accepted the call to ministry.

Tamara had a passion for writing, and she also loved to study God’s Word to get closer to Him so she could better share it with others. She loved praying for others, and she was always willing to help others even to give her last. She was a prayer warrior indeed with a heart that loved everyone and always wanted to be close with her family. She loved praise and worship and good preaching often as the preacher’s biggest cheerleader of “Amen”!

Tamara loved her fashion - her makeup and them eyelashes. She would take half the morning just to get dressed and to look her best! Tamara loved to travel as her health permitted; she wanted to see the world.

Despite her long battle with sickle cell, it did not stop her from serving the Lord and helping others. Even when she couldn’t attend physically, she stayed connected by internet and streaming where she joined the Women of Faith Prayer Ministry to intercede on the behalf of others!

On Sunday, July 7, 2019, Tamara succumbed to her illness departing this life of labor for her eternal home to be with Christ her Savior. She was preceded in death by her grand mother, Lettie Ann Cross, her mother, Linda Craig, and brother LaMer Craig.

She leaves to cherish her, her father and stepmother Robert and Maria-Rosa C. Craig; siblings Corey Craig, Stacy Tyler and her husband Gary, Miranda Craig, Yolanda McMillan and her husband Keith, Daniel Craig and his wife Tamica; grandmother Lelia Davis; grandfather Neolin Craig; and many dear special friends and a host of special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Scripture: “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:52-55‬ ‭KJV‬‬)
