Obituary

A loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He believed in and worshipped Our Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks be to God for his life and the home you have already prepared for him. Our family is thankful that Ed trusted you, Lord, as his personal Savior. This legacy of faith is priceless.
He retired from Kent County Juvenile Detention Center in the position of superintendent after having worked there for 34 years. Upon retirement he was approached by Holy Cross Children's Services to start a program for them in Grand Rapids, MI. He accepted the offer to set up a facility for Juvenile Boys and Supervised the program for the next 10 years. For many years he was an adjunct teacher at Community College, where he enjoyed teaching courses on Juvenile Justice. Now into full retirement, he actively participated monthly on a human trafficking force in Lansing, MI.
Ed will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara, daughters Christy(Mike) Fernhout; Angie Reynolds; grandchildren Emma, Ian, Lanie, Tatum, Logan, Landen, and Cadon. Two sisters Annkay(Gene), Vroma, Marilou(Harv) Kirycki, sister in law Carla Kinney, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later time. To honor Ed, memorial donations may be made to Inspire Church at 918 Garden Ave. Fremont, MI 49412

There won't be a day that I will not think of you and the wonderful memories we had made together. My drive to the lake won't be the same knowing you won't be there. Our Friday night totty time and dinner out will never be the same. The time we looked forward to every year in Florida will seem empty now. The wonderful talks and fun we had on our pontoon rides won't be as enjoyable without you. I know they say that our Lord needed you more, and even though I don't buy that analogy I hope those people who say that are correct. At least you have your other friend with you. Rest in Peace Ed. A perfect obituary to my brother, my friend. Words cannot exspress how much he will be missed. As 2 Timothy 4: 7 says..He has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, he kept the faith. He is now in his heavenly home praising his Lord and Savior.

Am so sorry to hear of Eds passing. The Medendorp family has been so important to me, and we will be praying for God's comfort and peace during this difficult phase. Be encouraged from God's Word in Psalm 125:2 (passion translation) "as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lords wrap around presence surrounds His people, now and forevermore". Regards Dave & Ann Reiffer
